Possible to love homosexuals and hate homosexuality?
"My sin is inherited, I am born that way, so it's not my fault. Since it is in my genes, it's actually not even a sin, and God will accept my practice. So should everybody. Then why not practice it in pride?" This is how some christians view homosexual practice. I will try to adress this view, but first I need to point out the following:
I love and respect homosexuals no less than other people. Actually I love some homosexuals so much. They are extremely valuable to me. How can I then have a heart to refuse to honor homosexual practice?
This article deals with homosexual practice among christians. If you are not a christian, please don't think you can change yourself. It is impossible. That's why God offers salvation by faith alone, without works. Start there.
First and foremost:
As a christian, don't rate your life by your own achievments or lack of achievments. If you feel self-destructive because of your sins, you have misunderstood the gospel.
Does God love you? Yes! Does he like you so much that he wants to spend the eternity with you? Yes! Through faith in Christ, without works, you can enjoy and live in God's favour. God smiles with approval when he looks at you who have accepted Christ's gift. When you are born again you will hate your sin and instead long for Christ's image to be visible in your life.
If you as a christian see sin in your life, do you live in fear under the law? Then read and digest these wonderful texts:
«For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are.» (Romans 3:20 NLT)
«But the people of Israel, who tried so hard to get right with God by keeping the law, never succeeded. Why not? Because they were trying to get right with God by keeping the law instead of by trusting in him........ But anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.”» (Romans 9:31-33 NLT)
The life of a christian is
not based on own achievements, but in trust in Christ:
«“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.» (John 14:1 NLT)
«I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.» (Romans 15:13 NLT)
«Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence.» (Ephesians 3:12 NLT)
«I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.» (Ephesians 3:16-17 NLT)
«....... «Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.» (1 John 4:18 NLT)
", and anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.” (1 Peter 2:6 NLT)
Just trust him and walk boldly and confidently in God's presense. The Holy Spirit will do his work in you, like a seed growing inside of you.
«We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God freely and graciously declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.» (Romans 3:22-24 NLT)
«I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate. But if I know that what I am doing is wrong, this shows that I agree that the law is good. So I am not the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it. And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can’t.» (Romans 7:15-18 NLT)
God reconsiled himself with you, not with sin. His standards remain. His character is unchanged. He still hates sin. Sin meant Jesus had to suffer and die. Don't be a friend with sin in your life. «So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.» (Romans 6:11 NLT)
When you read the Bible, what is your guiding light?
Do you accept a bible-text only when it is supported by science? «As the Scriptures say, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and discard the intelligence of the intelligent.” ........ God has made the wisdom of this world look foolish. Since God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never know him through human wisdom, ......» (1 Corinthians 1:19-21 NLT)
Do you accept a bible-text only when you find it reasonable? «Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ.» (Colossians 2:8 NLT) «Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.» (Proverbs 3:5 NLT)
Do you accept a bible-text only when it makes you feel good? "I feel this so strongly, I really need this. It's not my choice. I am just that way. I am not evil, I am just born that way." The potential of this method is limitless. There are no standards. «“The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?» (Jer. 17:9 NLT)
Do you accept a bible-text only when it is in harmony with your culture and political correctness? Laws of your country or your social surroundings, do they have any authority to nullify God's standards? «And so you cancel the word of God in order to hand down your own tradition....”» (Mark 7:13 NLT) Do you think the standards of the mainstream becomes better as you approach the endtime? If your standards align neatly with the mainstream of the society, shouldn't that bother you?
If you use any of the above methods, aren't you creating God in your own image, even when you read the Bible? Aren't you then in reality worshipping yourself?
Or do you let the Holy Spirit revolutionize your thoughts when reading the Bible? «All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.» (2 Timothy 3:16 NLT) «Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.» (Romans 12:2 NLT)
If you strongly dislike a text in the Bible, isn't it possible that the problem lies in you, not in the text?
What does the Bible say about homosexuality?
"Do not practice homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman. However, if you stay faithful to one man, then you are good. A man must not defile himself by having sex with an animal. However, if you stay faithful to one animal, then you are good." Does the Bible say that? No. But isn't this how some take words out of the air and insert them in the Word to fit their own needs? This is what the Bible says: «“Do not practice homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman. It is a detestable sin. “A man must not defile himself by having sex with an animal. And a woman must not offer herself to a male animal to have intercourse with it. This is a perverse act.» (Leviticus 18:22-23 NLT) Could it be said more clearly?
However, it's always beneficial to have other texts reinforce or add new dimensions to the message. Besides some practical guidelines in the old testament (the old covenant) are not followed up in the new.
«He created them male and female, and he blessed them and called them “human.”»
(Genesis 5:2 NLT) This is the fundament. «“A woman
must not put on men’s clothing, and a man must not wear women’s clothing. Anyone who does this is detestable in the sight of the LORD your God.» (Deuteronomy 22:5 NLT) So this difference is also important to put on display outward in
society. And in line with this, as we have read in Lev. 13, it is right to honor this distinction also in sexual relations.
«...... Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered .......» (Romans 1:26-27 NLT) «Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, ........, commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, .......none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God.» (1 Corinthians 6:9-10 NLT) The issue here is gender, not number.
Do you not like these words? Well, your issue is not with Moses, not with Paul and not with me. You can scream, shout, throw things and words around. It doesn't change anything. You can eat the Word with tablespoons or teaspoons. It will still have the same flavor.
"Why do most churches focus on homosexuality when adultery made God's top ten list?" (Read on a poster.)
The sarcastic undertones of this question taunts strait christians and is typical of many of the arguments promoting h: "Hah. You think you are so perfect by not embracing homosexuality. In reality you are not only an unloving christian, you are also a hypocritic, excluding, and immoral person. Furthermore you obviously suffer from homofobia and your very existance damages h's emotions and selfesteem. Actually, you make h want to kill themselves!" Uhh. Nobody wants to be like that, do they? But look again, and see who is judgemental, narrowminded, hateful and hypocritic? Their attack is two-fold:
One is to expose the sins of their critics thinking that it will make their own sin vanish. "If you shut up about my practice, I will not tell on you. Then all is good."
The other is what make them so very special in christianity. They want the church to redefine/reclassify their practice to be an elevated virtue. Are homosexuals more victims to their sinful thoughts and actions than anyone else? No! Are everybody else sinners by choice, while they are just poor victims of their own nature? No! Make up your mind. Is homosexuality sin? Well, then welcome to the family of saved sinners and confess. But if you want to reclassify sin to be a virtue, may we other christians also reclassify one or several of our "hard to get rid of" habits and call them virtues? Maybe we that way can rid ouselves with Jesus alltogether? Too bad He had to die for our sins when we just can reclassify our sins!
Do most churches focus on homosexuality? Fact or fiction? Either way they should, in the event that there is a push to reclassify homosexuality from being a sin to be a morally desirable quality.
The "top ten" uplifts the sacredness of sex within the boundaries of the marriage between man and woman, excluding every other sexual relationship. Some of these "other" are prohibited directly and/or indirectly.
Am I a hypocrite if I critizicise a christian homosexual or homosexual practice within the church? That's three questions.
1.
If I am a hypocrite, I am so in all walks of life, and I will need to deal with that sin. Nobody is without sin. We all need God's forgiveness. However, my sin does not extinguish your sins.
2. Being a sinner myself, can I critizise another sinner? «“.......
Whenever you receive a message from me, warn people immediately. ........ “If righteous people turn away from their righteous behavior and ignore the obstacles I put in their way, they will die. And if you do not warn them, they will die in their sins,
........ and I will hold you responsible for their deaths. But if you warn righteous people not to sin and they listen to you and do not sin, they will live, and you will have saved yourself, too.”» (Ezekiel 3:17-21 NLT) However, we always
need to keep fresh in mind that I might need to deal with my own sin first, before I try to help another to deal with his sin. And my sin might be the greater sin.
3. Can I take a stand against sin? Yes! The entire Bible is a witness against sins. Moses
and Paul were not perfect. Yet they exposed sin. I also want to take a stand against sin, and especially against attempts to reclassify sin to be something admireable. Sin is dealt with through confession only, not by reclassification. Can I do worse than
to permit, admire and uplift sin? It's like spitting at Christ on the cross by saying: "You died for my sins to enable me to freely endulge in and enjoy my sins." No! Being born again enables me to hate sin. If you love sin, you need to be born again.
Please also note the following statement: «Then Jesus told his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.» (Matthew 16:24-25) We need deny our personal needs, pick up our life's challenges, and follow Jesus.
«....... They provoke him to his face. The very look on their faces gives them away. They display their sin like the people of Sodom and don’t even try to hide it. They are doomed! They have brought destruction upon themselves.» (Isaiah 3:8-9 NLT) You all know how the men of Sodom demanded same gender sex. Anyone recognize today's gay pride movement in this text?
«But those who choose their own ways— delighting in their detestable sins— will not have their offerings accepted. ......... When they burn frankincense, it’s as if they had blessed an idol.» (Isaiah 66:3 NLT)
«Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.» (Galatians 6:7-8 NIV)
«So if you ignore the least commandment and teach others to do the same, you will be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But anyone who obeys God’s laws and teaches them will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.» (Matthew 5:19 NLT)
No victims ?
Some defend homosexuality by stating that there are no victims. No victims? God is a victim. All participants of h are victims. So is society and other individuals. All activity against God's standards produce victims by hiding His pure design.
Hurt
Homosexual's state that they get hurt when their needs aren't accepted and honored. Why do some people use drugs? It feels good in the moment, but it will have further consequences. Some consequences come right away, some come later. Homosexuality may feel good to you, but emotions does not define what is good for you. It's not good for you because it's not in God's design. And if it is not in God's design, it will hurt really bad, eventually.
Are you gay? Ok. I am not.
Does that give me the right to bully you, make fun of you, or despise you? No! Am I more noble, purer, better, or less lost than you? No! Are you at least as valuable, loveable and wonderful as me? Yes! Am I as hopeless in my sin as you are in your sin? Yes! Are we equally dependant on grace? Yes! Do we both receive undeserved salvation through faith in Christ? Yes! Are we both forgiven in the same way, that is by acknowledging and confessing our sins? Yes! Are we both in danger of losing eternal life if we defend/embrace the sin in our lives? Yes! We are equal before God.
Here are some testimonies, one from a former lesbian activist, the other from a former homosexual:
On YouTube: Former Lesbian Activist exposes the homosexual agenda and turns to Jesus Christ.

If you are touched by these words, share your experience with someone. The body of Christ was broken on the cross for our sins, and his blood was poured out so that we can experience his revitalizing power. Praise him! He is alive and he wants to spend eternity with you.
